Business Development Manager – Utilities Connections

About the role

The Business Development Manager will lead the identification and acquisition of major building connections to our client’s utilities networks across residential, commercial and public sector estates. You will work closely with developers, building owners and public authorities to drive network expansion and decarbonisation initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and prioritise target buildings, estates and regeneration areas within expansion zones.
• Develop and maintain relationships with senior stakeholders such as developers, local authorities and public sector organisations.
• Understand customer needs, investment drivers and decarbonisation challenges to shape commercial proposals.
• Negotiate heads of terms and progress agreements to full Connection and Supply Agreements.
• Structure deals that balance affordability, project viability and long‑term network growth.
• Collaborate with councils, combined authorities and regional partners to move projects forward.

Required profile

• Proven experience in energy, utilities, construction or related infrastructure sectors.
• Track record of building relationships and influencing senior stakeholders.
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to develop complex commercial propositions.
• Comfort operating in fast‑growth, project‑based environments.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills in ambiguous and evolving contexts.
