Butchery Manager – Lead Store Butchery Department

About the role

We are looking for an experienced butcher to run our butchery department as if it were their own business. The role combines customer‑facing service with responsibility for stock, food‑safety and profitability, while offering the flexibility of a business‑like environment without financial risk.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain high standards in stock, food‑safety procedures, fresh and pre‑packed meat displays, staff morale and customer satisfaction.
• Work with the Store Manager to develop and execute a business plan that drives sales and profitability.
• Greet customers, provide product advice, take orders and ensure a friendly service experience.
• Order, receive and manage stock, including regular stock‑taking.
• Recruit, train and schedule a small team, creating staff rotas.
• Cut meat to order and ensure tools and equipment are clean and well‑maintained.
• Coordinate deliveries or order pickups and control waste.

Required profile

• Strong product knowledge of all meat proteins.
• Self‑motivated with a clear desire to succeed.
• Proven experience working as a butcher in a retail environment.
• Ability to uphold food‑safety standards and deliver excellent customer service.
