Buyer – Strategic Procurement for Electronics Manufacturer

About the role

Our client, a leading UK‑owned contract electronics manufacturer, is opening a brand‑new world‑class facility in Basingstoke. They are seeking an experienced Buyer to drive strategic cost savings, ensure high‑quality components and guarantee timely delivery across a range of high‑precision sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full Request for Quotation (RFQ) process – from preparation to follow‑up.
• Analyse supplier quotes and secure the best value for the business.
• Place and progress purchase orders, proactively resolving any delivery issues.
• Maintain regular communication with vendors, tracking orders and building strong relationships.
• Monitor on‑time delivery KPIs and report concerns to the Procurement Manager.
• Keep vendor records up to date, including contacts, payment terms and services.
• Support sourcing initiatives by identifying and onboarding new suppliers.
• Identify and implement cost‑saving and workflow‑efficiency opportunities.
• Conduct detailed compliance reviews of supplier documentation.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing the end‑to‑end purchasing lifecycle, preferably in electronics or electronic components.
• Strong commercial acumen with experience in sourcing, negotiating and purchasing goods and services.
• Detail‑oriented approach to reviewing documentation and data.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MRP/ERP systems.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and Word skills.
