Buying & Merchandising Assistant

About the role

We are looking for a Buying & Merchandising Assistant to join a successful retail business in Liverpool. The role supports the end‑to‑end product journey, helping to deliver exciting ranges while ensuring stock availability, profitability and strong commercial performance.

Key responsibilities

• Support critical path management for product launches, ensuring milestones are met from concept to delivery.
• Coordinate product samples for approvals, reviews and range presentations.
• Liaise with Quality and Technical teams to guarantee compliance with standards.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Manage supplier communications regarding purchase orders, pricing, deliveries and specifications.
• Prepare and analyse sales, margin, stock and performance reports to aid commercial decisions.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activity and product performance.
• Assist with stock allocation, replenishment and inventory management across multiple channels.
• Support promotional activity, markdowns and product lifecycle management.

Required profile

• Previous experience in buying, merchandising, supply chain or commercial support.
• Strong analytical and numerical abilities.
• Excellent organisational skills with the capacity to manage multiple priorities.
• Confident communication skills for engaging with suppliers and internal teams.
• Proactive, detail‑focused and solutions‑driven attitude.
• Genuine interest in retail, consumer products and market trends.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP functions.
