Cabling Shift Engineer – Optic Fibre (Data Centres)

About the role
We are seeking a Cabling Shift Engineer to work on data centre projects, focusing on the installation, splicing and testing of optical fibre and copper cabling. The role follows a 4‑days‑on/4‑days‑off 12‑hour shift pattern and supports our 24x7 operations.
Key responsibilities
- Install, prepare, splice and test single‑mode and multimode optical fibre.
- Terminate and test Category 5, Category 6, UTP, STP and coaxial cables.
- Perform cable moves, upgrades and comprehensive cable management to maximise capacity.
- Test, label and document all installations according to company standards.
- Provide accurate records and reports to customers.
Required profile
- Significant experience in fusion splicing.
- Strong background in copper termination.
- Previous cabling experience within the telecoms industry.
- Proven ability to test and fault‑find on all cable types.
- Minimum GCSE level education.
- Desirable qualifications: City & Guilds 3466‑04, 3466‑02/03 or equivalent BTEC.
- Health & Safety, Working at Height and Lifting & Handling awareness.

What we offer
- Base salary £45,323 plus £6,500 shift allowance.

- Shift pattern: 4 days on / 4 days off, 12‑hour day/night shifts.
