CAD Designer – Sheet Metal Manufacturing

About the role

We are seeking a CAD Designer to join a well‑established sheet‑metal manufacturing company in Biggleswade. You will work on projects from concept through to production, delivering accurate 2D and 3D designs that meet customer specifications and support efficient manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

• Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings using SolidWorks.
• Produce manufacturing drawings for sheet‑metal fabrication.
• Develop designs in line with customer requirements and production constraints.
• Prepare precise material and labour cost calculations.
• Liaise with customers, engineers and production teams to ensure designs are practical and cost‑effective.
• Support continuous‑improvement initiatives within the design and manufacturing process.
• Maintain accurate design documentation and revision control.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a CAD Designer in sheet‑metal fabrication or manufacturing.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks.
• Strong understanding of sheet‑metal design, fabrication processes and manufacturing methods.
• Experience producing cost calculations and quotations.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and customer specifications.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem‑solving abilities.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
