CAD Technician – MEP & Laboratory Projects

About the role

The CAD Technician will join a regional contractor’s design team in Swindon, supporting the delivery of technically complex, MEP‑heavy projects such as laboratories, clean rooms and other controlled environments. You will produce accurate technical drawings and help coordinate building services and architectural elements from concept through construction.

Key responsibilities

• Produce high‑quality 2D CAD drawings and, where required, 3D models.
• Develop detailed construction layouts and technical drawings for MEP‑intensive projects.
• Assist in coordinating architectural and MEP service drawings across multiple sites.
• Collaborate with design managers, engineers and site teams to resolve technical issues.
• Update and amend drawings in line with design changes and site requirements.
• Ensure all drawings comply with regulations, specifications and project standards.
• Support the wider design team during pre‑construction and delivery phases.
• Maintain version control, accuracy and documentation standards across projects.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a CAD Technician within the construction or built‑environment sector.
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with Revit is advantageous but not essential.
• Ability to work in a detail‑driven, technically challenging environment.
