Canning Line Operative

About the role

Join a well‑established manufacturing and warehousing business in Bedford as a Canning Line Operative. You will work on a fast‑paced production line, ensuring smooth operation, high quality output, and compliance with food safety and health & safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor conveyor belts and canning line equipment to maintain product quality.
• Inspect cans and bottles for defects and report issues promptly.
• Operate production machinery safely and efficiently.
• Carry out routine equipment checks and basic maintenance.
• Follow all food safety, quality control, and health & safety procedures.
• Support the wider production team to meet daily targets.

Required profile

• Previous experience on a canning line or in a fast‑paced food production/manufacturing environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high quality standards.
• Good understanding of health & safety procedures in production.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
• Counterbalance forklift experience preferred; licence (in‑date or expired) acceptable with on‑site refresher training.
