Care Assistant – Day Shift

About the role

We are looking for a compassionate Care Assistant to join a residential care team in Birmingham on day‑shift hours. You will provide person‑centred support to residents, helping them maintain dignity, independence and a high quality of life.

Key responsibilities

• Support residents with personal care while respecting privacy and dignity.
• Assist with mobility, transfers and daily living activities according to individual care plans.
• Help residents at mealtimes, encouraging nutrition, hydration and meeting dietary requirements.
• Provide companionship, conversation and emotional reassurance.
• Encourage participation in activities, social occasions and daily routines.
• Observe and report changes in wellbeing, mood or needs to the senior care team.
• Maintain accurate, timely care records and hand over information clearly.
• Work collaboratively with senior carers, nurses, managers and relatives to deliver consistent, personalised care.

Required profile

• Kind, reliable and genuinely interested in supporting people.
• Good communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with residents, relatives and colleagues.
• Organised, calm and professional when supporting people with diverse needs.
• Willingness to complete training and work in line with safeguarding, health and safety standards.
• Legal right to work in the UK.
