Care Support Assistant (Residential)

About the role

We are seeking experienced Care Support Assistants to work with students who have special educational needs in both classroom and residential settings. This hands‑on role helps young people develop independence, confidence and essential life skills.

Key responsibilities

• Support students' physical, social, emotional and educational needs.
• Assist with daily routines such as mealtimes, mobility and personal care.
• Contribute to learning activities and life‑skills development that promote independence.
• Follow individual care plans and ensure safety and wellbeing.
• Undertake specialist training, including medication administration and gastrostomy feed support, where required.

Required profile

• Physically able to safely move, handle and support students.
• Patient, respectful and supportive attitude.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles.
• Positive, resilient and adaptable mindset.
• Commitment to professional development, working towards a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare where appropriate.
• Desirable: experience in a school or residential care setting, GCSEs in English and Maths, knowledge of SEND practice.
