Carpentry Lecturer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Carpentry professional to join a leading Further Education provider in the South East as a Lecturer. You will deliver both theory and hands‑on training to learners on Level 1 and Level 2 Carpentry programmes, helping them build the skills and confidence needed for successful construction careers.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging classroom and workshop sessions across Level 1 and Level 2 Carpentry.
• Plan schemes of work and prepare lesson materials that integrate practical skills with core maths and English.
• Assess learner progress, provide constructive feedback and act as a Personal Tutor when required.
• Maintain accurate learner records and track achievement.
• Support curriculum development, quality improvement and health‑and‑safety standards in the workshop.
• Build positive relationships with employers, parents and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Level 2 or higher qualification in Site Carpentry or Bench Joinery.
• Relevant industry experience in carpentry and joinery.
• Level 2 Maths and English qualifications.
• Previous teaching, training or mentoring experience.
• Strong organisational and classroom‑management abilities.
• Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and learner success.
• Desirable: teaching qualification (Level 4, Level 5, PGCE, Cert Ed) or assessor qualification, and experience delivering vocational qualifications.
