Casework Team Leader – Public Sector (Hybrid, 9‑month contract)

About the role

We are seeking a Casework Team Leader to join a public sector organisation in London on a 9‑month contract. Working hybrid, you will lead a small casework team, applying government policy to make evidence‑based decisions across a varied caseload.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a small casework function within a fast‑paced, policy‑led operational environment.
• Apply government policy to make sound, evidence‑based operational decisions.
• Mentor and support colleagues, promoting welfare and wellbeing.
• Collaborate confidently with stakeholders and partner teams to drive departmental priorities.
• Coach team members despite no formal line‑management responsibility.

Required profile

• Proven experience in evidence‑based decision making in a high‑pace operational delivery setting.
• Background working with or closely alongside government in a policy‑led context.
• Experience of rules‑based casework and operational delivery.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor or coach a team with a focus on welfare.
• Strong stakeholder collaboration and engagement at departmental level.
• Eligibility for Security Clearance (SC) and UK nationality.

Required skills

• MS 365 proficiency.
• Intermediate Excel skills.

What we offer

• Up to £350 per day (inside IR35, umbrella).
• Hybrid working – 1 to 3 days onsite as required.
• 9‑month fixed‑term contract with potential extension.
