About the role
The Kitchen at Lady Margaret Hall in Oxford serves students, staff and conference guests seven days a week. As a Casual Chef you will prepare and serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, ensuring meals meet high standards of taste, nutrition and safety.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare healthy, balanced meals according to the daily menu and dietary/religious requirements.
- Control portion sizes, minimise over‑production and reduce food waste.
- Label all foods correctly with dates and allergen information.
- Maintain temperature logs and ensure compliance with HACCP, COSHH and RIDDOR procedures.
- Keep the kitchen clean, hygienic and adhere to uniform and personal hygiene standards.
- Support menu reviews and guide junior staff on service and portion control.
Required profile
- Minimum Level 2 Food Safety qualification.
- Knowledge of current UK allergen legislation.
- Good spoken and written English and numeracy skills.
- Ability to run a kitchen section independently and lead junior chefs.
- Positive, approachable attitude and willingness to embrace new ideas.
Required skills
- Food Safety (Level 2) certification.
- Understanding of UK allergen regulations.
