Casualty Claims Handler – Liability Claims Specialist

About the role

Adjusting Appointments Limited is seeking an experienced Casualty Claims Handler to join its specialist Liability team. You will manage a caseload of public‑sector liability claims, delivering a high‑quality service from initial intake through to settlement.

Key responsibilities

• Handle a variety of casualty and personal injury claims through to settlement.
• Verify policy cover and validity for each claim.
• Log and record all claim information digitally.
• Investigate allocated claims, either from the desk or with support from loss adjusters.
• Refer to field adjusters for site investigations when required.
• Gather evidence and relevant documentation to determine appropriate action.
• Make liability decisions and negotiate settlements where appropriate.
• Stay up‑to‑date with technical changes in the industry and attend internal training.

Required profile

• Experience in liability or casualty claims handling within loss adjusting, insurance or legal sectors.
• Proven ability to manage a full caseload from intake to settlement.
• Understanding of insurance policy wordings and the insurance market.
• Knowledge of civil procedure rules and claims portals.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong planning, organisational and IT abilities.
• Relevant insurance industry qualifications (or working towards them) desirable.
