Catchment Technician

About the role

South West Water is seeking a Catchment Technician to join its Recovery & Treatment team in Totnes. The role supports wastewater treatment and sewage pumping operations, helping to maintain compliance, improve asset reliability and contribute to environmental initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate pollution incidents and conduct Root Cause Analysis.
• Provide reactive response to compliance hot‑spots and support incident recovery.
• Deliver technical support to wastewater operational teams to enhance efficiency and asset reliability.
• Develop detailed action plans, contingency procedures and contribute to the Smart Alarm project.
• Carry out health & safety investigations, hazard resolution and support governance activities such as fire‑alarm testing and site inspections.
• Respond to technical enquiries and provide accurate information to customers and internal teams.
• Assist with energy and water efficiency field programmes.

Required profile

• 5 GCSEs at grades A‑C (including Maths, English and a Science) or equivalent qualifications such as ONC, City & Guilds, NVQ Waste Water Process, Sewerage Control Level 2, HNC or Water Diploma.
• Technical outlook with the ability to analyse and present data for decision‑making.
• Proficiency in using computer systems, including MS Office.
