Category Buyer – Procurement (Edinburgh)

About the role

Leonardo UK is seeking a Category Buyer to join its Edinburgh Procurement function within the Radar and Advanced Targeting business line. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, you will be responsible for creating and managing supplier contracts while ensuring commercial compliance and supporting sourcing strategies throughout the product lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Create and manage supplier contracts, ensuring compliance with internal and external governance.
• Prepare RFQs, bid packs, contractual terms, price agreements and statements of work.
• Produce contract compliance packs for internal audit and external government bodies.
• Conduct market analysis and benchmarking of supplier pricing.
• Lead cost negotiations and report outcomes for audit purposes.
• Provide material pricing analysis for product cost review boards and identify cost‑reduction opportunities.
• Collaborate with design engineering to research sustainable sources and support supply‑review processes.
• Drive supplier competition using the Supply Review Board process.
• Monitor supplier delivery performance against KPIs throughout the contract lifecycle.
• Manage material budget, revenue forecasting and estimate‑to‑complete reporting.
• Identify and mitigate risks and opportunities in partnership with suppliers and IPT members.
• Utilise SAP to create compliant contracts and maintain procurement data.

Required profile

• Experience with commercial agreements, including NDAs, TAAs and export licences.
• Ability to prepare comprehensive quotation and contract documentation.
• Strong analytical mindset with numeracy skills for pricing and budgeting.
• Proven negotiation skills and ability to influence stakeholders.
• Team‑player attitude and collaborative approach across functions.
• Understanding of contract terms and conditions.
• Exposure to supplier performance management and risk assessment.
