Category Buyer – Procurement Specialist

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Category Buyer to join a leading international business in the agricultural and engineering supply sector. You will own product categories, develop supplier relationships and drive value across a diverse portfolio while working within a collaborative procurement team.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement category and sourcing strategies.
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships across the UK and Europe.
• Lead commercial negotiations and conduct regular supplier reviews.
• Monitor supplier performance, quality and service levels.
• Analyse market trends to identify sourcing opportunities.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements.
• Support inventory planning, forecasting and product availability.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the supply chain.

Required profile

• Previous experience in purchasing, procurement or category management.
• Strong negotiation and supplier management capabilities.
• Excellent analytical and commercial awareness.
• Proven ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong organisational and project‑management abilities.
• Proactive, solution‑focused approach.
• Experience in manufacturing, engineering, agricultural, distribution or supply‑chain environments is advantageous.
