Category Manager – Healthcare (Senior)

About the role

Attain is seeking a Category Manager or Senior Category Manager to lead procurement initiatives for NHS provider clients. Working from home with regular visits to London and surrounding Trusts, you will shape commercial strategies that deliver savings and improve service delivery across clinical and non‑clinical spend.

Key responsibilities

• Develop category strategies using spend analysis, demand management, market insight and organisational priorities.
• Identify and realise savings, efficiencies, service improvements and risk reduction opportunities.
• Lead end‑to‑end procurement processes from market engagement through award and mobilisation.
• Reduce in‑year contract spend on live contracts and ensure compliance with the Procurement Act 2023, Provider Selection Regime and NHS procurement policies.
• Maintain robust governance, delivery discipline and stakeholder confidence.
• Operate in hybrid delivery models with regular on‑site presence within Provider Trusts.

Required profile

• Proven category management expertise with a track record of delivering financial savings.
• Experience managing full lifecycle procurement projects.
• Strong knowledge of the Procurement Act 2023 and Provider Selection Regime.
• Ability to analyse spend, contracts, pricing models and supplier proposals.
• Excellent communication skills with senior stakeholders and resilience in fast‑moving environments.
