Caterer / Kitchen Supervisor – Prison Catering

About the role

This position offers a unique opportunity to apply your catering qualifications in a professional industrial kitchen within HMP Aylesbury. You will lead a team that includes offenders, preparing nutritious meals for the entire prison while contributing to rehabilitation and skill development.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise offenders in the preparation and cooking of quality, nutritionally balanced meals for the prison population.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and hygiene regulations, including regular HACCP checks.
• Manage shift patterns that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays, with a 20% unsocial hours allowance.
• Support offenders in gaining catering qualifications and workplace skills to improve post‑release employment prospects.

Required profile

• Level 2 certificate in food production (or equivalent) and Level 2 & Level 3 food hygiene certificates.
• Working towards or holding a Level 3 vocational catering qualification (e.g., City & Guilds 7061/7062 or NVQ Level 3).
• Demonstrated competency in an industrial kitchen environment and familiarity with current health, safety and hygiene regulations.
• Proven team‑leadership experience and confident spoken English.

• HACCP refresher training (every three years)
