Catering & Butler Supervisor

About the role

This permanent, full‑time position is based in Cambridge within a prestigious university college. You will lead the front‑of‑house catering team, ensuring high‑quality service for formal dining, conferences, events and daily catering operations.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise the pantry and front‑of‑house staff during internal and external events.
• Coordinate function set‑up, meeting‑room preparation and café service.
• Maintain presentation, cleanliness and customer‑service standards.
• Plan workloads using function schedules and manage stock levels of consumables, equipment and uniforms.
• Communicate allergen information accurately.
• Deliver briefings, training and ongoing development for casual and permanent staff.
• Assist with wine cellar management, including stock control and monthly stock takes.
• Support bar operations and represent the catering department at major events.

Required profile

• Proven experience in hospitality, catering or front‑of‑house supervision.
• Strong leadership with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
• Highly organised, calm under pressure and flexible to work a rota including weekends and evenings.
• Knowledge of food hygiene and allergen awareness.
