C.E. Tar Operative

About the role

We are looking for a C.E. Tar Operative to join our Civils Department in Aberdeen. The role involves general civil engineering labour, operating and transporting tar equipment, and maintaining associated plant and machinery.

Key responsibilities

• Perform general civil engineering labour activities such as road works, drainage, slab and kerb laying, cable pulling, concrete works, and hand digging.
• Transport and operate the tar box, including towed hot box trailer.
• Maintain assigned vehicles, equipment, plant and machinery in clean, well‑maintained condition and carry out routine checks.
• Operate designated plant and machinery in accordance with standard operating procedures.
• Ensure operator training and certification are current before using any equipment.
• Report faults, breakages or issues with equipment to line manager immediately.
• Maintain records related to vehicles, plant, machinery and equipment as required.

Required profile

• Valid UK driving licence (preferably clean).
• Spill kit training.
• Manual handling training.
• First Aid certification.
• CSCS H&S Test Operative.
• CPCS/NPORS qualification for designated plant.
• HGV licence.
