Change Lead & HR Consultant (Contract, outside IR35)

About the role

A Birmingham‑based organisation is integrating four businesses into a single entity of around 150 employees. They need an experienced Change Lead and HR Consultant to design the new operating model, harmonise people processes and embed new ways of working. This is a hands‑on, contractor role (outside IR35) with hybrid working – largely remote.

Key responsibilities

• Define roles, responsibilities and accountabilities across the 140‑person organisation and create a scalable framework.
• Review and redesign the current and future organisational structure to support the integration.
• Lead a review of Reward & Recognition and develop a consistent approach.
• Design and implement an appraisal and performance‑management framework.
• Establish uniform onboarding and off‑boarding standards.
• Facilitate and document key people and business processes for the future organisation.
• Develop and embed new ways of working, supporting cultural alignment.
• Create a People Integration Playbook for future acquisitions.
• Run workshops with leadership and staff to identify gaps and agree future‑state approaches.
• Support change leadership and stakeholder engagement, communicating why and how changes occur.

Required profile

• Proven experience in change management, organisation design and post‑merger integration.
• Ability to move between strategic thinking and detailed execution.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, working with senior leaders.
• Experience designing reward, performance and onboarding processes.
• Excellent facilitation and communication abilities.
