Chartered Building Surveyor – Commercial Property

About the role

We are seeking a Chartered Building Surveyor to join a well‑established surveying practice in Bedfordshire. The successful candidate will deliver expert building surveying services across a diverse commercial property portfolio, advising landlords, tenants, investors and developers.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct commercial building surveys, pre‑acquisition surveys, technical due diligence inspections and measured surveys using modern surveying technology.
• Prepare detailed survey reports, Schedules of Condition and Schedules of Dilapidations in line with RICS guidance.
• Diagnose building defects and advise on repair, maintenance, refurbishment, landlord‑tenant matters and lease obligations.
• Produce specifications, tender documentation and administer refurbishment and repair contracts, including Red Book valuation inspections where required.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, solicitors, managing agents and other consultants while managing project records, budgets and timescales.
• Develop strong client relationships and identify opportunities for additional consultancy services.

Required profile

• Degree in Building Surveying or a related discipline.
• MRICS or FRICS qualification.
• Proven experience in commercial building surveying.
• Strong knowledge of commercial construction methods, building pathology and repair techniques.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the region.
