Chartered Civil Engineer – Marine Infrastructure Design

About the role

We are seeking a Chartered Civil Engineer with proven experience in marine infrastructure design to join a leading national engineering design firm. Based in Newcastle upon Tyne, you will contribute to projects that transform ports and support offshore renewable energy initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Design and structurally assess marine infrastructure such as ports, harbours and offshore facilities.
• Collaborate with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to provide clear technical guidance.
• Review drawings and calculations to ensure compliance with standards, contractual requirements and client expectations.
• Maintain health and safety compliance, including CDM regulations and relevant legislation.
• Prepare and manage technical documentation, calculations and AutoCAD drawings in line with company standards.
• Participate in design reviews, site meetings and inspections, delivering work within budget and programme deadlines.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of post‑graduate experience in civil or marine engineering.
• Degree‑qualified (BEng or MEng) in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Chartered status (or working towards chartership) is essential.
• Strong communication, teamwork and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AutoCAD for engineering design.
