Chef – Part-Time, Permanent Role in Newcastle

About the role

We are recruiting on behalf of a successful independent café seeking a reliable and experienced Chef to join their team. Working closely with the owner and wider team, you will be responsible for delivering a high‑quality food offering, ensuring all dishes are prepared and presented to specification while maintaining excellent kitchen standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook dishes from an established menu to a consistently high standard.
• Ensure all food is prepared, cooked, and presented according to company specifications.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and fully compliant kitchen environment.
• Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards at all times.
• Manage weekly stock ordering and maintain accurate stock records and par levels.
• Minimise waste and support effective stock control procedures.
• Communicate effectively with the owner and wider team to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
• Support the delivery of an excellent customer experience through quality food service.

Required profile

• Minimum of 1 year’s experience working as a Chef.
• Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate.
• Good understanding of food safety, kitchen hygiene, and compliance requirements.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a small team.
• Passion for producing high‑quality food consistently.
