Chemical Engineer – 12 Month Contract

About the role

Bristol Water is looking for a Chemical Engineer to join its Optimisation & Development team on a 12‑month contract. You will help improve the performance, efficiency and regulatory compliance of clean water treatment processes, ensuring safe, high‑quality drinking water for customers.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and assess clean‑water treatment performance using operational data, Power BI dashboards and site investigations.
• Analyse trends to identify optimisation opportunities, improve efficiency and support regulatory compliance.
• Investigate process issues related to coagulation, filtration, sludge treatment and chemical dosing systems.
• Lead or support investigations into water‑quality and environmental‑compliance incidents, implementing corrective actions.
• Review and optimise chemical dosing strategies to maximise performance while minimising costs.
• Collaborate with Operations, Water Quality, Asset Management and other stakeholders to evaluate chemical performance and usage.
• Produce technical reports, engineering assessments and recommendations for operational decision‑making.
• Develop, review and maintain process documentation, including flow diagrams.

Required profile

• Qualified Chemical Engineer (degree or equivalent).
• Experience working with water‑treatment processes such as coagulation, filtration, sludge treatment and chemical dosing.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams and communicate technical findings.

Required skills

• Power BI for data visualisation and analysis.
