Chemical Milling Operator – Day Shift

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Chemical Milling Operator to join our Welwyn Garden City facility on a day‑shift schedule (6 am‑2 pm, Monday‑Friday). You will work with aerospace‑grade metal parts, applying maskants and immersing components in etching solutions to achieve precise dimensions.

Key responsibilities

• Read work orders, blueprints and process specifications to determine etch locations and sequence.
• Prepare parts by cleaning surfaces and applying maskant using templates and hand tools.
• Immerse parts in etching, pickling, chromodising, passivating, degreasing and stripping baths, manually or with a hoist.
• Rinse, remove maskant and measure finished parts with micrometers and other precision instruments.
• Drill, trim and perform any required secondary operations.
• Report any deviations from specifications and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
• Cross‑train in other production areas as needed.

Required profile

• Ability to interpret technical drawings and work orders.
• Commitment to health, safety and quality standards.
• Willingness to wear required personal protective equipment, including a face‑fit mask.
• Flexibility to work on a fixed day‑shift schedule.

Required skills

• Use of micrometers and other precision measuring instruments.
• Experience with hand tools, templates and immersion equipment.
• Operation of hoists for loading/unloading baths.
• Basic knowledge of maskant application and removal techniques.
