Chemistry Teacher – Full‑time, Permanent

About the role

We are seeking a passionate Chemistry/Science Teacher to join a thriving secondary school in the heart of Merton, South West London, from September 2026. This is a permanent, full‑time position within an Outstanding‑rated school that values innovative teaching and strong student progress.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging Chemistry and broader Science lessons to Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils.
• Contribute to the development of the Science department, sharing best practice and supporting colleagues.
• Take on optional teaching‑leadership responsibilities such as KS3 coordination or pastoral duties.
• Participate in in‑house training and professional development programmes.
• Maintain accurate records, assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK or in the process of obtaining it.
• Strong academic background (degree, A‑Levels and GCSEs) and ability to meet the 8 Teaching Standards at a ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ level.
• Willingness to work collaboratively within a large Science team and to receive and act on feedback.
• Commitment to the school’s ethos of high expectations and supportive behaviour management.

Required skills

• Effective classroom management and lesson planning.
• Ability to design and deliver practical Science experiments safely.
• Proficiency in using digital learning platforms and assessment tools.
