Child and Family Lifestyle Coach

About the role

As a Child and Family Lifestyle Coach you will join the 0‑19 Children and Young People’s Service, supporting families across Warwickshire. You will work with children, young people and their families to improve health and wellbeing through evidence‑based interventions covering healthy eating, physical activity, breastfeeding, responsive weaning and oral health. The role involves delivering one‑to‑one and group sessions in family hubs, clinics, schools and community settings.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake holistic assessments with children, young people and families to identify health and lifestyle needs.
• Develop personalised support plans focused on nutrition, activity and broader wellbeing.
• Deliver one‑to‑one and group‑based interventions in community settings.
• Provide advice on breastfeeding, responsive weaning and oral health.
• Use motivational interviewing and other behaviour‑change techniques to encourage sustainable change.
• Monitor progress, evaluate outcomes and maintain accurate records.
• Signpost families to local services and collaborate with health visitors, school nurses and partner agencies.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification or equivalent experience in health improvement, public health or community development.
• Experience working with babies, children, young people and families.
• Knowledge of behaviour‑change techniques, including motivational interviewing.
• Understanding of public health and health‑promotion principles.
• Strong communication and group‑facilitation skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent IT and record‑keeping skills.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
