Child Care Solicitor – 2+ PQE, £45k-£55k (DOE)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Child Care Solicitor to join a specialised family childcare department within a leading law firm in Devon. The role involves managing a caseload of public law children matters and providing expert advice to families during care proceedings.

Key responsibilities

• Manage your own caseload of public law children matters, representing parents, grandparents and other family members.
• Provide calm, expert advice to clients throughout distressing care proceedings.
• Represent families at all stages of court proceedings, including special guardianship orders.
• Advocate on behalf of vulnerable clients and maintain strong internal and external networks.

Required profile

• 2+ years post‑qualification experience (PQE) in public law family matters.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, sensitive environment and remain calm under pressure.
• Commitment to making a difference in families’ lives.
• Understanding of legal aid processes; membership of the Law Society Children’s Panel is desirable.
• Proven advocacy skills and capacity to manage demanding caseloads.
