Child Care Solicitor

About the role

Our client is looking for an experienced Child Care Solicitor to join a growing team in London. The role involves representing parents, grandparents, other family members and children in a wide range of publicly funded child care matters, providing high‑quality legal advice and supporting vulnerable clients.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a varied caseload covering Care Orders, Supervision Orders, Emergency Protection Orders, Placement Orders, Adoption Orders and Child Arrangement Orders.
• Prepare and submit Legal Aid applications and follow CCMS procedures.
• Represent clients directly or through CAFCASS‑appointed Guardians in courts and tribunals.
• Defend allegations of injury, abuse or neglect and prepare court bundles, witness statements and supporting documentation.
• Attend conferences, hearings and provide advocacy where appropriate.
• Instruct counsel, liaise with external parties and maintain professional relationships.
• Supervise junior solicitors, trainees and paralegals and contribute to departmental training.
• Support business development and marketing initiatives to generate new work.

Required profile

• Qualified Solicitor with a current practising certificate.
• Law Society Children Panel Accreditation.
• Minimum 3 years post‑qualification experience in Child Care Law.
• Strong experience handling publicly funded child care matters.
• Excellent client care, advocacy and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines.

Required skills
