Child Protection Chair

About the role

The Child Protection Chair will lead safeguarding conferences and multi‑agency meetings, applying Strengthening Families and Motivational Practice models. This temporary full‑time position supports children at risk of significant harm and works to improve outcomes for families across North London.

Key responsibilities

• Chair child protection conferences and meetings, ensuring decisions prioritize safety.
• Develop, review and monitor child protection plans that are specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and timely.
• Conduct independent case reviews and management reviews.
• Provide reflective advice and consultation to improve standards and outcomes for children and families.
• Lead continuous service improvement through audits, training delivery, policy influence and implementation.
• Build and maintain influential partnerships with practitioners and partner agencies, applying a Motivational Practice approach.
• Support the LADO in managing allegations against staff and volunteers.
• Uphold council values of public service, quality, equality and empowerment in all duties.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in child protection, safeguarding or related social‑care roles.
• Strong understanding of Strengthening Families and Motivational Practice models.
• Excellent analytical, communication and partnership‑building skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, manage complex cases and influence multi‑agency decision‑making.
• Commitment to council values and high‑quality public service.

Required skills
