Child Protection Chair – Safeguarding Lead

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Child Protection Chair to lead and chair Child Protection Conferences across Nottingham and the wider council area. The role requires immediate start, a full driving licence, access to a vehicle and willingness to travel as needed.

Key responsibilities

• Chair Initial and Review Child Protection Conferences, ensuring children’s views are represented.
• Scrutinise assessments and plans to confirm they are evidence‑based and compliant with statutory guidance.
• Challenge poor practice, escalate concerns and monitor the effectiveness of Child Protection Plans.
• Collaborate with social care, education, health, police and partner agencies to deliver multi‑agency safeguarding planning.
• Produce accurate records and decisions from each conference.

Required profile

• Social Work qualification with registration on Social Work England.
• Significant post‑qualifying experience in safeguarding and child protection.
• Proven experience chairing complex multi‑agency meetings.
• Strong knowledge of Working Together to Safeguard Children and relevant legislation.
