Child Protection Social Worker – Sandwell, West Midlands

About the role

Sandwell Children’s Services are seeking an experienced Child Protection Social Worker to join their frontline safeguarding team. You will work on a hybrid basis, managing high‑risk cases and delivering safe, positive outcomes for vulnerable children and families.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of children subject to Child Protection Plans, Child in Need plans, and care proceedings.
• Undertake comprehensive assessments, including Section 47 enquiries and court reports.
• Develop and implement robust care plans that ensure children’s safety and wellbeing.
• Work collaboratively with families, partner agencies, and professionals.
• Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date records on case management systems.
• Attend and contribute to case conferences, reviews, and court hearings.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.
• Minimum of 2 years post‑qualifying experience in child protection or safeguarding.
• Strong understanding of relevant legislation and statutory guidance.
• Confidence in handling complex caseloads and risk management.
• Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain).
• Car driver with access to own vehicle (preferred).

Required skills

• Section 47 enquiry handling.
• Court report writing.
