Childcare Solicitor – Team Leader

About the role

Join a nationally recognised law firm as a Childcare Solicitor Team Leader, managing a reduced caseload of public‑law children matters while providing strategic leadership to a multi‑location legal team.

Key responsibilities

• Handle public law children cases from instruction through to conclusion, including advocacy in Family Court.
• Supervise, mentor and support a team of lawyers across several offices.
• Conduct file reviews and ensure compliance with regulatory and risk‑management procedures.
• Assist with case allocation, performance management, budgeting and departmental projects.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to drive team success and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Qualified Solicitor or FCILEX with at least 8 years post‑qualification experience in public‑law children work.
• Demonstrable advocacy experience in childcare proceedings.
• Proven ability to advise parents, guardians or other parties in care proceedings.
• Previous supervisory or team‑management experience (advantageous).
• Children Panel membership is desirable but not essential.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of public‑law children legislation and case management.
• Excellent advocacy and courtroom presentation skills.
• Effective team leadership and mentoring capabilities.
