Children's Advanced Practitioner – Children in Care

About the role

The Children’s Advanced Practitioner will join Oldham Council’s Children in Care team, handling a smaller but complex caseload of vulnerable children and young people. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality interventions, safeguarding, and improving outcomes while supporting staff development.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a smaller caseload of complex and challenging cases, providing interventions that ensure safety and improved outcomes.
• Work alongside partner agencies to conduct assessments, co‑produce and implement care plans, and lead on evaluating progress.
• Provide reflective and group supervision, advice and guidance to staff, both individually and as a team.
• Assist the team manager with quality‑assurance feedback, promote a learning culture and drive practice improvement.
• Model continual professional development and uphold social‑work best practice, including equalities, diversity and safeguarding policies.

Required profile

• Full registration with Remedy for locum positions and successful completion of an Enhanced Disclosure (DBS) check.
• Commitment to the Council’s policies on customer care, data protection, finance, ICT, safeguarding and health & safety.
• Ability to promote the Council’s values and co‑operative agenda while engaging in continuous professional development.
