Children's Home Deputy Manager

About the role

As Deputy Manager at Area Camden, you will support the Registered Manager in the day‑to‑day operation of a residential children’s home for young people aged 11‑18. You will help create a caring, respectful environment while ensuring compliance with regulations and the organisation’s Statement of Purpose.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Registered Manager and deputise when required, overseeing daily home operations.
• Supervise, guide and support staff, ensuring effective communication and high standards of practice.
• Manage key operational areas such as care quality, recruitment, training, staffing, the home environment and basic financial duties.
• Assess young people’s needs, contribute to personalised care plans and promote independence and wellbeing.
• Maintain safeguarding compliance, health & safety, COSHH, and keep risk assessments up to date.
• Maintain accurate records, including care plans, medication logs and financial documentation.
• Support admissions, staff recruitment, induction and training needs.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years residential childcare experience.
• Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce or equivalent.
• Experience of child protection and safeguarding practices.
• Leadership and staff supervision experience.

• Permanent contract with a salary of £39,362.67 per annum.
• 12‑hour shift pattern (08:00‑20:00) with an average of 168 hours per month.
