Children's Home Night Support Worker

About the role

The Children’s Home Night Support Worker provides 24‑hour care for young people living in our residential homes. Working a 4‑on/4‑off night rota, you will be the first point of contact when a resident wakes distressed, ill or needs support, helping them feel safe and understood throughout the night.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and support residents during night hours, responding to emergencies, trauma triggers or health concerns.
• Build trusting relationships with young people, offering emotional reassurance and practical assistance.
• Complete administrative duties such as paperwork, cleaning, laundry and incident reporting.
• Maintain a safe, secure environment in line with safeguarding policies.

Required profile

• Genuine commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable children and young people.
• Ability to stay calm and make sound decisions during high‑stress situations.
• Reliable attendance and willingness to work a rotating night schedule.
• Basic understanding of social, emotional and mental health needs.

Required skills

• Effective communication and active listening.
• Basic record‑keeping and documentation.
• Household maintenance tasks such as cleaning and laundry.
