Children's Home Support Worker – Residential Care

About the role

Our client, a well‑established children’s residential provider in Kent, is seeking compassionate support workers to care for vulnerable young people aged 8‑18. The permanent position offers full‑time or part‑time shifts that are grouped together, providing a stable environment to promote independence and wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality, person‑centred care to young people.
• Support health, medical and physical care needs, arrange appointments and ensure follow‑up.
• Maintain a safe, structured 24‑hour living environment.
• Supervise daily routines before/after education and mealtimes, encouraging independence such as cooking.
• Contribute to care planning, risk assessments and behaviour‑support strategies.
• Participate in team meetings, reviews and care planning sessions.
• Deliver recreational, social and structured evening/weekend activities, managing activity budgets.
• Support outreach work and attend home visits when required.

Required profile

• NVQ Level 3 in childcare or health & social care (essential).
• At least one year recent experience in a relevant care setting.
• Experience supporting children with emotional, behavioural, mental health or complex needs.
• Willingness to work unsociable hours.
• Driving licence and own vehicle (desirable).
