Children's Residential Support Worker – Flexible Temp

About the role
We are seeking compassionate care professionals to join a network of children’s residential homes across Southampton on a flexible, temporary basis. As a Residential Support Worker you will help create a safe, nurturing environment for young people with complex needs and emotional‑behavioural difficulties.
Key responsibilities
- Provide day‑to‑day support, encouraging independence and life‑skill development.
- Follow individual care plans to deliver safeguarding and emotional wellbeing support.
- Use trauma‑informed de‑escalation techniques to manage challenging situations.
- Deliver educational and therapeutic activities during day shifts.
- Offer overnight sleep‑in or waking‑night coverage as required.
Required profile
- Proven experience working with children and young people with complex needs in a residential care setting.
- Full UK driving licence and reliable vehicle to travel between homes.
Required skills
- Ability to follow care plans and safeguarding procedures.
- Strong communication and empathy when supporting vulnerable youth.
What we offer
- Hourly rate £12.71‑£18.00 plus accrued holiday pay and pension.
- Flexible shift selection – day, long‑day with sleep‑in, night, or block bookings.
