Children's Residential Support Worker – Hartlepool

About the role

Join Witherslack Group as a Children’s Residential Support Worker in Hartlepool, supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health needs. You will be part of a caring team that helps residents regain a sense of childhood and builds pathways toward adulthood.

Key responsibilities

• Assist residents with daily routines, ensuring they are ready for school each morning.
• Provide homework help, complete necessary paperwork and plan engaging activities.
• Organise and participate in evening and weekend recreation such as games, film days or outings.
• Support the emotional and mental wellbeing of each young person, responding to both high and low moments.
• Maintain a safe, tidy residential environment and follow safeguarding procedures.

Required profile

• Reliable, with a strong attendance record.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends and occasional sleep‑ins.
• Passionate about youth care and able to build positive relationships.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a residential team.

Required skills

What we offer

• Base salary between £32,194 and £38,560 per year.
• Sleep‑in allowance (£80 per night, up to 4 nights per month).
