Children's Social Worker – Children in Need

About the role

Wakefield Council is looking for a dedicated Children’s Social Worker to support children and families identified as Children in Need. You will join a dynamic multi‑agency team, delivering safeguarding, risk management and tailored interventions to promote the well‑being of vulnerable children.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out comprehensive assessments of children and families.
• Develop, implement and review personalised care plans.
• Manage a caseload of children in need, ensuring timely interventions.
• Collaborate with health, education and voluntary partners to provide holistic support.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with statutory guidelines.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker with a degree in Social Work.
• Registered with Social Work England (SWE).
• Proven experience working with children and families, preferably in a Children in Need context.
• Strong commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.

Required skills

• Assessment, planning and intervention expertise.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively within multi‑agency teams.
