Children's Social Worker – Children with Disabilities

About the role

Our client, Bury Council, is seeking a dedicated Children’s Social Worker to join the Children with Disabilities (CWD) team. You will work with complex caseloads, supporting children and families with a range of disability‑related needs and representing the council in court proceedings.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and plan support for children with disabilities and their families.
• Manage complex cases, ensuring safeguarding and wellbeing.
• Represent the council in Court, particularly under the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DOLS) and the Mental Capacity Act (MCA).
• Collaborate with multi‑disciplinary professionals and external agencies.
• Maintain accurate case records and produce required reports.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker with current registration.
• Demonstrable experience working with children with disabilities.
• Court experience, especially DOLS and MCA.
• Ability to work independently and manage a demanding caseload.

Required skills

• Knowledge of DOLS and MCA legislation.
• Understanding of safeguarding procedures.
