Children's Social Worker – LAC/Care Leavers

About the role

This position is with a Greater Manchester council, supporting Looked After Children and Care Leavers in Bolton. The role involves managing a caseload, delivering assessments and care plans, and ensuring statutory duties are met while promoting positive outcomes for young people.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of Looked After Children and Care Leavers, meeting statutory responsibilities.
• Complete assessments, care plans, pathway plans and reviews in line with legislation.
• Conduct regular visits and direct work with children and young people, incorporating their views into decisions.
• Support care leavers in transition to independence, including education, employment, housing and health services.
• Collaborate with families, carers, partner agencies and professionals to safeguard and promote welfare.
• Participate in Child Looked After Reviews, pathway planning meetings and multi‑agency forums.
• Identify and manage risks, taking appropriate safeguarding action.
• Maintain accurate, timely case records, reports and assessments.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
• Minimum three years’ experience as a qualified social worker.
