Children's Social Worker – Leeds City Council

About the role

Leeds City Council is seeking a dedicated Children’s Social Worker to join its restorative practice team. You will work directly with children, families and partner agencies to promote safety, wellbeing and positive outcomes for vulnerable young people.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and manage child protection cases and looked‑after children within the English legislative framework.
• Develop and maintain strong, restorative relationships with children, families and professionals.
• Deliver early support interventions and contribute to specialist teams such as front‑door and disability services.
• Maintain accurate case records and produce required reports.
• Participate in reflective supervision and continuous professional development.

Required profile

• Relevant professional qualification (Degree, DipSW, CQSW or equivalent) and registration with Social Work England on commencement.
• Completion of the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) and willingness to work towards Practice Educator Level 1.
• Minimum one year of post‑qualification experience in a statutory children’s social work setting, including child protection or looked‑after children.
• Strong knowledge of English children’s social work legislation and policy.
