Children's Social Worker – Looked After Children

About the role

Our client, a Merseyside council, is seeking a qualified Children’s Social Worker to join its Looked After Children (LAC) team in Liverpool. The role involves delivering statutory social work services to children and young people in care, ensuring their safety and wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake statutory social work responsibilities for looked‑after children and young people.
• Develop, implement and review care plans in line with legal and procedural requirements.
• Build supportive relationships with children, families and carers to promote stability.
• Collaborate with multi‑agency partners including health, education and legal services.
• Prepare and present reports for court proceedings, reviews and case conferences.
• Maintain accurate, timely case records compliant with safeguarding standards.
• Advocate for the rights and needs of looked‑after children, ensuring their voice is central to decisions.
• Participate in team meetings, supervision and continuous professional development.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
• Minimum three years’ experience as a qualified social worker.
