Children's Social Worker – MASH

About the role

The Multi‑Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) at Salford City Council needs a dedicated Children’s Social Worker to screen, assess and respond to referrals concerning children and young people. You will work closely with partner agencies to identify risk levels and ensure timely safeguarding interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, screen and triage contacts and referrals about children and families.
• Conduct safeguarding assessments in line with statutory guidance and local procedures.
• Assess risk, harm and need using professional judgement.
• Determine appropriate thresholds for Early Help, Child in Need, Child Protection and Looked‑After Children interventions.
• Make recommendations for services or statutory action.
• Maintain accurate, high‑quality case records and assessments.
• Collaborate with partner agencies to safeguard children.
• Participate in strategy discussions and multi‑agency meetings as required.
• Ensure practice complies with legislation, statutory guidance and local safeguarding policies.
• Manage a caseload effectively while meeting statutory timescales.

Required profile

• Full registration with Remedy for locum positions.
• Successful completion of an Enhanced DBS disclosure.
• Ability to work within statutory timescales and adhere to relevant legislation and local safeguarding procedures.
