Children's Social Worker – Support & Safeguarding

About the role

To work with children, young people and their families where there are concerns about welfare, safety, neglect, abuse or other risks. The Social Worker assesses children’s needs, develops plans to improve outcomes and works with families and partner agencies to safeguard children and promote their wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake assessments of children and families in line with legislation and local authority procedures.
• Identify risks, strengths and unmet needs and develop appropriate safeguarding plans.
• Manage a caseload of children subject to child‑in‑need, child protection and other safeguarding plans.
• Conduct statutory visits and maintain regular contact with children and families.
• Participate in child protection enquiries, strategy discussions and conferences.
• Prepare high‑quality reports for child protection conferences, reviews, court proceedings and other professional meetings.
• Collaborate with parents, carers, schools, health services, police and other professionals to improve outcomes.
