Children's Support Worker

About the role

Randstad Care is looking for compassionate Children's Support Workers to join specialist crisis response teams in Launceston, Bude and surrounding areas. You will work in residential settings, providing stability and therapeutic support to vulnerable young people during high‑pressure situations.

Key responsibilities

• Engage with children using trauma‑informed, creative approaches to build trust.
• De‑escalate challenging behaviours, aggression or self‑harm safely and calmly.
• Maintain accurate daily reports that inform long‑term therapeutic care plans.
• Support community activities and outings, travelling as needed across Cornwall.
• Collaborate with senior staff and external agencies to ensure a coordinated response.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 months paid UK care experience in residential or crisis settings.
• Resilient, calm and non‑judgemental attitude towards complex behaviours.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
• Willingness to work flexible temporary shifts or block bookings.

Required skills

• De‑escalation techniques for aggressive or self‑harm behaviours.
• Ability to produce clear, concise written reports.
• Basic knowledge of trauma‑informed care principles.
