Children's Support Worker – Manchester

About the role

Join a specialist crisis team in Greater Manchester to provide daily support for vulnerable children and young people in residential settings. You will help create a safe, structured environment while building trust and encouraging positive behaviour.

Key responsibilities

• Engage with children using creative methods to build rapport.
• De‑escalate heightened behaviours and maintain a safe environment.
• Support daily activities, appointments and family contact.
• Record accurate daily logs and incident reports to inform care plans.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 months paid UK care experience, preferably in a residential setting.
• Proven ability to use de‑escalation techniques and make sound decisions under pressure.
• Calm, resilient and non‑judgemental approach during crisis situations.
• Willingness to complete PMVA training if not already qualified.
• Current DBS check on the update service or willingness to obtain a new one.
